Advocacy (Human Rights, Civil Rights and more)

Many organizations in the social sector advocate on a macro/micro level regarding a particular issue or right of an individual or group. A sampling of issues include equal access to education, human trafficking, conservation of forests, worker and employment rights, the rights of special populations, and protection of animal species. The resource links below include sample employers in Animal Rights, Human Rights, Civil Rights, and Women's Rights.

Things to Consider

Students should take into consideration an advocacy organizations size, scope, and impact when pursuing positions. If you are passionate about a specific advocacy group, start to get involved while you are on campus, whether through a student organization, summer internship or volunteering in New Haven. Many young professionals choose to pursue a law, nonprofit management, or other degree after gaining a few years of experience in this field.
