The Yawkey Community Service Fellowship places undergraduates in funded nonprofit positions in the Connecticut, Rhode Island and Boston area with a $4,000 stipend. These fellowships are supported by the Yawkey Foundation, which is committed to continuing the legacy of Tom and Jean Yawkey by making significant and positive impacts on the quality of life for children, families, and the underserved in the areas which the Yawkeys called home: New England and Georgetown County, South Carolina. This fellowship was created in 2016 and for this past summer, there were four Yawkey Community Service Fellowship positions offered with the following organizations: Save the Children, Innovations for Poverty Action, The Bridgespan Group and The Environmental Defense Fund.
Quote: Save the Children’s Internship Program was exceedingly well done. From my orientation, to learning events on interview skills, personal branding, humanitarian response organization, and childhood nutrition, Save the Children was very supportive of my personal and professional development. I appreciated the learning events as they gave interns exposure to all areas of the organization and connected us with staff. Furthermore, Save the Children put together a list of individuals in the Fairfield and D.C. offices who specifically signed up to meet with interns one-on-one. This was a tremendous networking opportunity. I met with many directors who gave me career advice.
