It is important that all Masters students draft a professional resume (as opposed to the academic Curriculum Vitae, or CV) to not only summarize your past experiences, but also identify your practical, technical, and transferable skills. The Office of Career Strategy offers assistance in the construction of resumes through our website, and even offers insight on converting your curriculum vitae into a resume, if needed!
Specific to all incoming Masters students, the Office of Career Strategy offers unique ways by which you can prepare your resume before even arriving to campus, so you can take advantage of employers participating in Fall semester recruiting events and information sessions. One way is through our annual Resumania event! Resumania is a unique opportunity for incoming Masters students to meet, in-person or virtually, with an OCS staff member to review their resume draft, get specific feedback, and discuss immediate next steps. Resumania is offered to incoming Masters students during the summer, just before classes start. We hope this program provides Masters students with an easy, low-stress way to prepare themselves for our employer events and information sessions that take place in early September!
Did you miss out on this year’s Resumania? Or did you participate and still have resume questions? Fear not!
Additional ways you can prepare:
- Review our online resume materials to make your draft as strong as possible!
- Utilize our online resume review program, which allows you to submit your resume draft by email and receive specific feedback within 5 business days. This resource is available all year long!
- Come to our office for a drop-in session (15-minute one-on-one session with an OCS staff member), offered between 10am-4pm when classes are in session.
- Schedule an advising appointment with an OCS staff member through Yale Career Link for a more in-depth conversation regarding your resume.
