Started at Northwestern University during the COVID-19 pandemic, The STEMPod team recognized that the pre-collegiate educational system was in disarray. A hybrid model of learning emerged as the solution, but it became clear that even this was still insufficient. In low income areas – where many schools were disorganized even before the pandemic hit – students inevitably fell even further behind. We created STEMPod with the goal of providing relief for these students and their teachers, helping them to fill the gaps in difficult math and science subjects. By providing our suite of programs free of charge, we hope to support underserved and underrepresented students in their education to help them succeed.
There is a need for more volunteer tutors and here is the link to the application.
Also, here is a link to our organization’s interview with Dean Nancy Brown of the Yale School of Medicine (with whom we spoke about inspiring the next generation of scientists and physicians).
