Beyond the Blog: Why You Shouldn’t Rely Only on Highlighted Job Posts

We know that as a busy graduate student or postdoc, your time is limited—and that’s why we try to highlight curated job opportunities in newsletters and blog posts. But here’s the truth: what we post is only the tip of the iceberg.

Many companies, including major players like Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) and Pfizer, offer hundreds of roles globally across a wide spectrum of disciplines—from lab-based R&D to regulatory affairs, medical writing, clinical operations, data science, and more.

These science and science-support roles may not always get featured in our weekly content, but that doesn’t mean they’re not out there—and perfectly aligned with your skills

🔍 Here’s How You Can Take Control of Your Search

1. Visit Company Career Pages Regularly
Companies like BI and Pfizer update their listings frequently, often with positions across the U.S. and internationally. Go beyond the home page—use filters, search by keywords, and dig into the departments that match your interests.  Also check out BioCT and CT Innovations for exciting roles in your own backyard.

2. Sign Up for Job Alerts
Set up alerts directly on company websites so you’re among the first to know when a new role opens.

3. Follow Companies on Social Media
LinkedIn, Twitter/X, and even Instagram are great platforms to track job announcements, recruitment events, and insight into company culture.

💡 Pro Tip: Look for Roles Beyond the Bench

Many roles in the life sciences sector don’t require you to be in the lab full-time. Science communication, regulatory strategy, operations, and analytics are just a few fields where your STEM background is highly valued.

So while we’ll keep spotlighting standout roles, we encourage you to cast a wider net. Your next opportunity might already be out there—just a search away.
