You will be a clinical research coordinator at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Hypertension for two years. You will work for Dr. Gordon Williams, Professor of Medicine, and Dr. Gail Adler, Professor of Medicine, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Clinical research studies are investigating personalized treatment for hypertension and the role of aldosterone in causing hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Williams and Dr. Adler are part of a research group comprised of about 5 investigators, 3 clinical research coordinators, and 2-3 post-doctoral fellows. You will work with this entire team, and directly with Drs. Williams and Adler, to manage clinical research studies, work with study participants, and organize data for analysis. As a research coordinator, you will work closely with human research study participants. The yearly salary range is $42,000-$46,000.
Job responsibilities include:
- Provides assistance on clinical research studies as per study guidelines and protocols.
- Recruits and evaluates potential study participants. May perform clinical tests such as blood pressure measurement, EKG and vital signs.
- May perform assay for blood sugar determination during research study.
- Coordinates visits, specimen collection, and specimen storage.
- Interacts with study participants with regard to study protocol, including study participant education, procedural instruction, and follow-up. May serve as a liaison between study participant and study physician.
- Responsible for collecting data and maintaining study participant information database for study. May be required to input data, do minimum analysis, and run various reports. Maintains study participant research records as part of record keeping function.
- Responsible for mailing various study information or packets to study participants.
- Answers phone calls and inquiries regarding study protocol.
- Monitors and sets up any needed equipment.
- Maintains inventory and orders supplies when necessary.
- Assists with data analysis, manuscript preparation and grant preparation.
- All other duties, as assigned.
Candidates should display professionalism, have excellent organization and communication skills, be detailed oriented, and have excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with study participants. Bachelor’s degree is required. Strong interest in medicine and research experience is preferred.
