What I Heard from HR – Treat Every Interaction as an Interview

A recruiter at WCUB told me about a brilliant scientist who showed up to a Zoom interview wearing a wrinkled t-shirt. Smart person, great credentials… didn’t make it to the next round.

Every interaction — even an informational chat — is an interview.

That means showing up on time, being prepared, and presenting yourself the way you’d want to be remembered. Ask questions, show curiosity, and follow up with a thank-you note.

You never know who’s evaluating your professionalism or deciding whether to advocate for you internally.

Treat every touchpoint as your chance to leave a great impression — because it is.
