Research Technician in Patil Lab at MGH

For more information about our research, our website is https://patillab.mgh.harvard.edu/index.html.

We are seeking a bright and motivated individual for a Research Technician I position in the laboratory of Sarita Patil, M.D. in the Center for Immunology and Inflammatory Diseases (CIID). The CIID is a multidisciplinary research center whose goal is to discover new mechanisms and molecular pathways in allergic, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Our laboratory seeks to understand how allergies develop and how they can be effective treated by understanding the role of antibodies in allergy and tolerance. Our translational research approach leverages the application of cutting edge, sample sparing techniques to understand clinical manifestations of disease, in both children and adults. To that end, we have pioneered the application of fluorescent multimers to identify rare, allergen-specific B cells, combined with single cell B cell receptor sequencing, followed through to structural characterization of antibodies. Our work has led to the identification of neutralizing antibodies and their role in sustained responses after therapy, as well as the identification of convergent, or public antibodies. From this work, we have a clearer insight into antibodies from individuals but also on a population level.

Candidates for this position should have a solid background in biology and a strong interest in immunology and molecular biology. This position would be ideal for those candidates interested in gaining significant experience in biomedical research and considering future graduate studies.
