The Times Corps is designed for undergraduates who would particularly benefit from access to mentorship and career guidance from professionals in the field. We are especially interested in applications from students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds and students who attend colleges or universities that do not have an established record of sending alumni to The Times. Students should be interested in print, broadcast or digital media and be curious about all types of storytelling, including video and audio journalism. They do not need extensive journalism experience.
U.S.-based students, including international students, who will complete their undergraduate studies in 2028, 2029 or 2030 are eligible to apply. About 20 students will be invited to join the program in late summer.
Since 2022, about 80 students at schools across the country have participated in the Times Corps. Many rise to leadership roles at their college media outlets, and alumni have landed internships and jobs at both local and national news organizations.
The application closes at 5 p.m. Eastern on Friday, June 12. Applications cannot be revised after they are submitted, and applications received after the deadline will not be considered. The Times Corps is not a paid job. Corps members are not employees of The Times, and they do not produce news or other content or perform any other work for The Times.
