The Community Programs Intern supports community education, civic engagement, and outreach initiatives at Immigrant Social Services, Inc. (ISS)
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of community education, programs, and services;
- Draft and develop community education and outreach materials and campaigns;
- Provide research assistance such as literature reviews, collecting, compiling, and entering data, outline and draft presentations and reports.
Skills:
- Excellent people and verbal/written communication skills;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once; absorb information quickly but thoroughly; adhere to deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and as a team player; creatively problem solve;
- An interest in Asian American Studies/Chinese American history;
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues prevalent in underserved immigrant communities, a plus;
- Bilingual English/Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese, or Fujianese), a plus.
- Proficiency in social media and content creation tools, a plus.
This internship is supported by the Association of Asian American Yale Alumni (AAAYA) Mary Li Hsu Community Service Fellowship.
This summer, the fellow will receive a stipend of $5,000. Housing included.
