Launch Alaska – Climate Technology Lead

Anchorage

This position is part of the Alaska Fellows Program. All fellows live together, “in community,” in their respective host site. Each host site is unique and remarkable.

Fellows receive housing, a $1000 monthly living stipend and a $500 relocation stipend. The fellowship includes facilitated and funded opening and closing retreats.

We harness Alaska’s distinct mix of resources, markets, and opportunities to help startups successfully scale solutions that accelerate the resource revolution.

Each year, we run a deployment accelerator program, the Tech Deployment Track (TDT), where we pair decision makers with innovative food, water, transportation, and energy startups to validate technologies and scope projects for deployment in Alaska. Startups work with investors, policy wonks and customers through a collaborative and structured process—all focused on getting solutions to the companies and communities that need them most.

Position Description: 

Launch Alaska is looking for a Climate Tech Lead to support our deployment accelerator program throughout the duration of our 2021-2022 Tech Deployment Track. This person will work closely with both the TDT Lead and COO, on climate tech projects related to TDT and business strategy and operations. 

We are looking for someone who is passionate about solving problems at the nexus of food, water, transportation and energy through innovation and entrepreneurship. This individual should be excited to learn how to run a startup accelerator, through working across multiple job functions. A willingness to learn and comfort tackling new problems is a must. 

This position is based in Anchorage, Alaska.

Activities may include

Lead recruitment for our 2022-2023 TDT program: develop a diverse recruitment plan to increase the number of new majority led startups, recruit applicable startups within our climate tech focus areas, attend events in these focus areas.
Assist with 2021 Impact Report: gather and analyze data from portfolio companies, represent the impact companies are making towards mitigating climate change through environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics. 
Plan and execute our TDT 2021-2022 deployment accelerator program: collect, analyze, and disseminate survey responses following each TDT session, plan programming for each session, communicate directly with startups in the program.
Event coordination: help our event contractor plan and execute TDT and other events throughout the year. 
CRM management: keep all HubSpot data relevant and current.  
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Understand the startup ecosystem and have a broad understanding of technologies across food, water, transportation and energy 
Basic knowledge of G-suite and Excel
Presentation/communication skills
Detail oriented, highly organized, ability to deliver on time
Go-getter that thrives when juggling multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications

Degree related to energy, food, water, transportation, sustainability, climate change, entrepreneurship, business or finance
Experience working with a startup in the food, water, transportation or energy space
Experience as a participant in accelerators or innovation competitions
Hubspot or other CRM programs
Data analysis or programming experience

What will you walk away with?

Experience working side by side C-suite and director level employees at a fast-paced startup 
An understanding of key challenges and opportunities in food, water, transportation and energy in Alaska and around the world
An understanding of what it takes to run a startup accelerator and advise mid-stage startups
Proficiency in business tools including: HubSpot, Excel, Slack, and Monday.com
Deep exposure to LA’s network of top caliber entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, and corporations in Alaska and beyond
