Founded in 1989, the Asian American Federation (AAF) is one of the strongest leadership voices advocating for better policies, services, and funding that lead to more justice and opportunity for Asian immigrants, one of the most historically under-resourced communities in New York City. As an umbrella leadership organization, we represent 70 community-based organizations serving 1.5 million Asian New Yorkers, the fastest-growing population in the city.
DESCRIPTION
This is a unique opportunity for a creative, organized, and motivated college student to work closely with the AAF Programs team to execute and deliver a wide range of programmatic tasks.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Programs, the Program Intern will assist in coordinating workshops and events, creating communications content to conduct outreach for AAF’s programmatic events, and tracking resources. The Intern will also assist in the coordination of mental health, anti-Asian violence, and nonprofit support programming to address the most pressing needs of the Asian American community and to support AAF’s member and partner organizations.
This internship requires a minimum commitment of 12-35 hours per week for 10-14 weeks, starting on or before May 12, 202. The internship is hybrid. This position is unpaid, but is eligible for a stipend of up to $6,500 under the AAAYA NY Mary Li Hsu Community Service Fellowship. AAAYA NY Mary Li Hsu Community Service Fellowship is offering housing at Yale Club of New York for 8 weeks between June 22, 2025 and August 30, 2025 for students interested in working in New York City.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in coordinating and implementing workshops, trainings, and other events for program areas, such as creating event graphics, setting up online registration, and leading back-end Zoom support or in-person event set-up
- Assist in setting up and running social media campaigns to promote events, resources, and programs
- Support program evaluations by creating metric tools like polls, surveys, etc., and assessing data to inform program implementation
- Assist in managing the program calendar for each program area
- Synthesize information from meetings and public resources to create one-pagers, and/or event requests
- Assist Programs team with event planning and execution, including taking meeting minutes and providing technical assistance at events
- Assist Programs team in developing creative ways to promote events and programs
- Execute programmatic tasks, including research and outreach to community partners and potential speakers as needed
- Capture data, videos, and photos of AAF events and programs
