Are you on the hunt for a civil president who respects the Constitution, cuts budgets, cuts taxes and pulls together the nation? Do you like to edit and disdain hype? Do you like competitive debate? Do you want to help out a program that honors the effort of the country’s finest students?

Calvin Coolidge is your man. The Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation seeks a summer intern for 2024, working out of the historic Coolidge House, aka Quality Hill, in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington. There are also possible trips to Plymouth Notch, Vermont, the village birthplace of the thirtieth president. Dates for the Coolidge summer internship are June 1, 2026 to August 21, 2026, though there is room for some flexibility.

Those interested in joining the Foundation for a summer will find a staff dedicated to getting Silent Cal’s remarkable record to the American people. The Foundation is led by Amity Shlaes, Jonathan Edwards 1982, and author of the full length biography, Coolidge. An intern will get to know a young and growing Foundation that moves faster than most nonprofits. The intern will be also joining us in an exciting period, the run up to the 1923 centennial of the Coolidge Presidency.

Summer interns’ responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
-Assistance with the planning and execution of several Coolidge Foundation summer events and programs including the Coolidge Cup National High School Debate Tournament; 4th of July celebrations (Coolidge is the only president to share a birthday with the United States); and the Coolidge Senator Summits for top applicants to the Coolidge Scholarship, a highly competitive merit program for which 4700 students applied for five scholarships in the last round.
-Research, writing, and editing for Foundation publications, including News from the Notch, a bi-weekly email blast, the Coolidge Review, the Foundation’s research publication featuring print and digital articles about President Coolidge and his era; and the Coolidge Virtual Library, the Foundation’s burgeoning online archive of all things Coolidge.
-General administrative support to staff; website maintenance, social media support.

**IMPORTANT NOTE: A $5,000 stipend, rewarded to one Yale recipient of this opportunity, is being provided by the generous support of the William F. Buckley Jr. Program, an organization dedicated for the advancement of intellectual diversity at Yale.
