The Finance Department of the City of Derby is seeking an intern to assist the Finance Director and staff with administrative, staffing, and special projects as needed. Under general supervision, from the Finance Director, Chief of Staff, executive aide, and departmental staff the intern is to perform routine office tasks; additionally assisting the finance director, working on special projects, and any other related work as requested.

A successful intern would be a student registered at a Connecticut institution of higher education, to receive credit for the internship. The candidate must have good computer and people skills and an interest in municipal finance policy and politics. During the term, the student must be able to research, write, and analyze complex federal, government, and municipal issues with an ability to understand and convey them.
