We will work to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. We will work in partnership with these champions to overturn the Citizens United decision, end the unlimited and undisclosed money in politics, and protect and expand the right to vote.
Reports to: Political Assistant
Position summary: This intern will be a vital member of ECU/LAV’s Political team, whose work focuses on supporting federal races across the country. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, tracking campaigns, drafting memorandums on candidates, and providing administrative support to the Political department.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Prospective interns should have a strong interest in taking on big money in politics and protecting the right to vote
- A willingness to learn and collaborate with team members
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Candidates with a basic understanding of how race, class, and other identity markers intersect with our work in advocacy and electoral campaigns will be prioritized
- Previous electoral experience is preferred, but not required
Interns will also benefit from the ECU/LAV Intern Educational Program, which will educate interns on Democratic politics and the issue of reform while providing unique opportunities to hone professional development skills. The program includes presentations with top Democratic professionals, tutorials on networking best practices, and discussions on themes within the reform movement. Additionally, this internship will provide the opportunity to interact with and receive professional guidance from all members of ECU to help interns gain strong experience in progressive campaigning.
