HBS seeks a Research Associate (RA) to partner with a faculty member in the Organizational Behavior unit for one year or more, beginning this summer (start date flexible). The RA will support research projects and conduct literature reviews which are likely to relate to, among other things, race, gender, inequality, identity, and diversity.
Under the general direction of the faculty member, the RA will identify and explore a wide-range of questions; provide subject-area knowledge, analysis, and interpretation to the faculty member. The RA position reports directly to the faculty supervisor and the administrative manager in the Research Staff Services office. Ideal RA candidates will be comfortable in an environment that requires a high level of independence, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to use discretionary judgment.
Conduct background research: gather, review, and summarize academic articles; draft literature reviews and methods and results sections of academic papers for both qualitative and quantitative methods and findings.
Manage IRB applications and approvals, datasets, and shared online file systems including all project study materials.
Conduct a diverse range of research tasks including preparing quantitative datasets (e.g., survey data) for analysis, conducting sophisticated statistical analyses of survey and experimental data, coding qualitative data, and running experimental laboratory and online studies.
Learn and implement a wide variety of research tools including Qualtrics; Mechanical Turk, Turk Prime, and Prolific; and Stata or R.
Read and efficiently distill information to identify key themes and important areas, which will elicit further research needs.
Independently manage all timelines and deliverables for multiple projects. Exercise independent decision-making with regard to progression of research project and methodologies. Must be able to structure assignments and keep faculty member informed as necessary, using own judgment.
Ensure compliance with department, University, and federal regulations. Complete work with only general direction. Be aware of department, School, University policies and potential outside research policies.
This is a full-time appointment starting this summer (start date flexible) through June 30, 2022 with potential for reappointment. All HBS RA roles are structured as one-year term appointments with potential for renewal.
