Kostelanetz & Fink, LLP is a boutique law firm of just under 35 attorneys focusing on tax controversy, white-collar criminal defense, civil litigation, government procurement & contracting, and trusts & estates, with offices in New York City and Washington, D.C. Eleven of our attorneys have been recognized as “Super Lawyers®,” and nine of our attorneys were recognized in U.S. News’ “Best Lawyers in America®.” Our team includes former federal prosecutors and law clerks, the former head of the Department of Justice’s Tax Division, and the former Chief of the Internal Revenue Service’s criminal investigation division. Chambers USA selected us as Tax Team of the Year for 2018, and Best Lawyers selected us as Law Firm of the Year for Tax Litigation in 2021.
We are seeking candidates who wish to join our pre-law paralegal program, which is designed to bridge the gap between college and law school with training and professional experiences that should help participants succeed as both law students and lawyers. Kostelanetz & Fink’s paralegals enjoy a uniquely immersive experience by working closely with our lawyers on a daily basis and attending our frequent in-house training sessions, which include overviews of law school courses such as torts, contracts, civil procedure, criminal law, and property law. Alumni of the paralegal program have gone on to attend Berkeley Law School, Columbia Law School, Harvard Law School, Stanford Law School, the UC Irvine School of Law, and Yale Law School. They have also risen to Editor-in-Chief positions on law journals and secured federal clerkships at the district and appellate courts in New York and Washington, D.C.
We seek aspiring legal professionals with strong academic credentials who have outstanding writing, research, and oral communication skills. Ideal candidates are organized and friendly individuals who are capable of handling multiple projects at once, meeting deadlines, and working well both independently and on a team.
The responsibilities of the paralegal position include conducting legal research and document review, providing legal and litigation support, and assisting with general administrative work. Candidates should have exceptional computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with website and social media management is welcomed. Accounting experience may also be useful for some positions. The starting salary for this position is $70,000 per year, based on a 35 hour workweek.
