About Us:
The Mayhew Program is not your typical summer camp. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering boys from disadvantaged backgrounds in New Hampshire. Through our unique year-round program, we provide tuition-free opportunities for these young individuals to discover their potential, build self-esteem, and grow into responsible, confident members of their communities.
At Mayhew Island, we offer a summer experience like no other. As a camp counselor, you’ll have the opportunity to gain valuable training and hands-on experience working with at-risk youth, a population that many individuals don’t often get the chance to engage with. Responsibilities:
As a summer staff counselor, your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the care, welfare, safety, and security of all program participants.
- Being a positive role model.
- Recognizing and reinforcing the good behaviors and positive decisions of program participants and fellow staff members.
- Addressing participants’ negative behaviors or poor choices using the tools of the Mayhew discipline system.
- Believing that every person can grow, change, and succeed.
- Engaging with the boys of the program in positive ways.
- Being open to receiving feedback and implementing change.
