The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week program beginning in June 2022 and ends in August 2022. The long-term intention for this program is to hire interns that prove their aptitude into full time roles. To qualify for an internship, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PHD level degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date after the final day of the internship (December 2022 or later).
Department: Cybersecurity Operations
Cyber Security Operations Center drives to further the mission of Information Security Department by detecting, analyzing, and responding to cyber threats and vulnerabilities affecting Navy Federal Credit Union. Incident Response & Monitoring is CSOC’s mission-essential component, responsible for 24x7x365 monitoring of cybersecurity events to detect, respond to, and mitigate identified cybersecurity incidents.
Job Description Overview
The Incident Response and Monitoring team performs 24/7 operations and in-depth analysis, monitoring, research, assessment and recommendations on intrusion detection and prevention tools, anomaly detection systems, firewalls, antivirus systems and proxy devices. Throughout the incident lifecycle, cyber security analysts will conduct log, network, malware, and device analysis and make recommendations for remediation of security vulnerability while also using commercial and open source tools to quickly analyze, detect, and respond to cyber security incidents.
Summer Associate Graduate Intern will work remotely and report to leadership at our Vienna, VA campus.
Currently pursuing Master’s Degree or higher in computer science, information systems, cyber security, or related field.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills.
Advanced knowledge of data querying, reporting, analysis and operations research.
Advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced skill following, interpreting and applying relevant data/instructions to guidelines, procedures, practices and regulations.
