The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week program beginning in June 2022 and ends in August 2022. The long-term intention for this program is to hire interns that prove their aptitude into full time roles. To qualify for an internship, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PHD level degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date after the final day of the internship (December 2022 or later).
Real Estate Lending (REL) empowers members on their Home Loan journeys through a combination of human and digital touchpoints. REL employees leverage their expertise to help members navigate purchasing a new home, refinancing an existing mortgage, cashing out on home equity, and servicing needs during the life of the loan.
Job Description Overview
Navy Federal Membership is growing rapidly and the technical environment in which we operate is in constant flux. Real Estate Lending needs to continuously evolve to maximize efficiencies, take advantage of technology, and improve processes to ensure an optimal member and team member experience.
The Summer Associate Graduate Intern will work remotely and report to leadership at our Vienna, VA campus. Responsibilities will include taking an advanced approach to research and discovery across the analytics landscape, developing a deeper appreciation of our members’ needs while streamlining our response to their needs based on analytics and measurable results. You will work independently with limited guidance on complex analysis.
Areas of focus may include organizational design analysis, specialized program development, and technology planning to align with the vision of Real Estate Lending. Essential to the position is an ability to collaborate with team members, key partners, business units across Real Estate Lending, and other product teams to regularly engage on the journey vision.
This role will be a member of the REL Business Optimization (RBO) Team – a cross-functional group of inspired problem solvers driven to align business operations with the needs of our membership. The RBO has a wealth of experience in Continuous Process Improvement, User Experience Design, Business Analysis, Operations Strategy, and the DevOps Lifecyle. We apply this experience to conduct research and perform analysis to uncover product opportunities and formulate innovative solutions that deliver value and create exceptional experiences for members and employees alike.
Skills & Experience
Advanced analytical and research skills along with experience working with data in a highly analytic environment
Working knowledge of analytics, user experience design and business impact
Business acumen with ability to leverage expertise with credibility and impact
Effective skill delivering effective presentations to groups of various sizes
Experience analyzing user experience and cost, to size impact and opportunities
Strong multi-tasking and the ability to meet deadlines
Familiar with Agile methodologies/principles (Scrum, XP, Lean etc.)
Exposure to working in an agile environment
Strong communication and collaborative skills
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across the organization
Maintain skills up to date with industry standards
Continuous learning with respect to current trends, practices, regulations, and technology in the financial services industry

Due to COVID-19 and social distancing, this position will be temporarily working from home with plans to return to campus at the desired location listed once Navy Federal is back to normal operations.
