Be part of the concert and contribute to the NHSO’s service to this community. Whether you are looking to meet other people interested in the arts or for something fun to do with your friends and family, there are several opportunities to volunteer for the Symphony. Perks include hearing the world-class music of the NHSO for free and getting free parking at our Woolsey Hall performances. NHSO volunteers are a diverse group of individuals dedicated to supporting the Symphony’s music and mission. Take your place at the heart of the Symphony and know that you are helping to make the music possible!

Volunteer Opportunities
Ushering
Ushers ensure that patrons are able to get to their seats quickly and safely. Ushers must be capable of climbing stairs, standing for a shift, and communicating with patrons. They are expected to stay for the entire concert and assist with general cleanup in the seating areas after patrons have departed (i.e. picking up playbills, loose papers, lost personal items should go to house manager, etc.).

Ticket Tearing
Ticket tearers help patrons into the venue and point them towards the right seating area. They also monitor doors for exits/re-rentry during concerts. Ticket Tearers must be able to read tickets and be able to communicate with patrons. They are expected to stay at their position through intermission to assist latecomers & patrons re-entering the hall.

Program Stuffing
Most concerts have special materials that need to be inserted into programs prior to the concert. All Ushers and Ticket Tearers are asked to assist with stuffing inserts into programs prior to opening the doors to the hall.
