Curating the most appropriate learning experiences for professional and personal growth, the Talent Development team provides learning and career development programs that adapt with the ever-evolving needs and demands of the industry. The Talent Development team supports NYPA’s talent ecosystem by encouraging employees to immerse themselves in their career development and lead the charge to transform NYPA to become the first digital utility.
The Talent Development Specialist will design and deliver learning and development programs that will provide managers and employees with the competencies and abilities they need to anticipate and respond to the demands of a rapidly changing business environment. You will plan and implement organizational development initiatives and programs that are aligned with the overall mission and the strategic objectives of each business.
Support the development and management of Talent and Organizational Development programs including, succession planning, performance management, leadership development, management development, innovation etc.
Conduct needs assessments by consulting with management, supervisors and employees to gain knowledge/insight on developmental opportunities to make recommendations to team.
Determine instructional methods in collaboration with Talent team for proposed/new educational programs.
Design and facilitate presentations and course content to assist in delivery of talent programs.
Support talent programs with pre-course materials, class handouts, and any technical support.
Prepare training status reports and maintain database for all attendees who participate in talent programs.
Research and review internal and industry trends and benchmarks to inform program design.
Develop dashboard reports and documentation based on business and management requirements.
Administer the performance management and annual succession planning program including: collecting/tracking management progress, consolidating program metrics, running reports, creating resources and maintaining documentation.
Recommend process improvements for established processes and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent organizational, communication and project management skills with exceptional follow through and attention to detail. Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple programs with varying competing deadlines.
Highly collaborative and team-oriented, with ability to build relationships with vendors and all stakeholders across all levels and business units.
Knowledge of HR planning processes (succession planning, performance management, etc).
Ability to work with minimal direction.
Ability to develop and facilitate engaging, informative, well organized presentations.
Compile and utilize data to inform recommendations that support business strategy.
Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access. Knowledge of an HR platform, SuccessFactors is preferred.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Masters in Applied Industrial Psychology or related field is preferred.
Minimum two (2) years related experience.
One or more of the following certifications is preferred: MBTI, Hogan Personality Profile EQI, DISC, Situational Leadership.
Approximately 25% travel primarily within NY State.
Ability to present to audiences of varied size.
Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer and telephone.
