Job Description:
Summary
Assist in the development of long-term financial forecasts that are used: to measure NYPA’s financial viability; to provide input into the development of strategic plans and aid in the assessment and evaluation of NYPA’s enterprise-wide risks. Such activities help identify and provide support for the development of business solutions that allow NYPA to maintain its competitive margin and financial integrity in the ever evolving electric utility marketplace.
Responsibilities
Will work on departmental procedure updates, documenting processes and directions.
Maintenance of monthly financial planning models and reporting that ensures quality reports are delivered to senior management on a timely basis.
Support in development of four year Operating Forecast (OF), by collecting and analyzing the data, updating the financial model, analyzing the results and preparing the reports. This forecast provides the basis for the following year’s budget.
Work with team members to prepare other required filings, including the Proposed and Final Four Year Budget and Financial Plan for NYS Comptroller’s Office. This includes assisting in the compilation of forecast assumptions.
Assist team members with special assignments and ad-hoc analyses.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of finance, accounting, economics.
Strong analytical skills required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook). Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with oil & gas markets, wholesale power market, hedging structures and instruments, and financial and bond markets a plus.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Business or the equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of experience with corporate finance
