Summary

The Supplier Relationship Specialist plays a vital role executing communication and business relationships management with external suppliers. Reporting to the Supplier Relationship Manager, this position will execute strategies for the Supplier Management function. This position will be responsible to ensure NYPA operates in a strategic and goal oriented manner by enabling the goals of the Supplier Relationship Management by being the primary owner of day-to-day activities.
 
The Specialist will be responsible for the oversight, management, and reporting of supply chain performance activities. He/she will work with the Category Management group as well as internal stakeholders to develop and integrate key performance indicators (KPI’s) into supplier contracts, issue performance score cards and supplier surveys. The Specialist will manage notices of concerns, supplier performance reports and centralize in the supplier’s profile (Ariba SIPM). He/she will also support supplier business review meetings including establishing agendas, track open items, and develop meeting minutes.

Responsibilities

Supplier Relationship Management

Assist in the execution of the SRM function to create value, drive continuous improvement, and provide realized savings to NYPA by applying supplier relationship management leading practices.
Administer all day to day operations of the SRM group  according to strategies, playbook, and initiatives.
Facilitate the usage of Ariba Supplier Performance and Information Management (SIPM) throughout the company to drive strategic thought and initiatives by working hands on with other business units to adopt and understand the operations of the system.
Provide support relating to SRM technologies, including but not limited to Ariba SIPM.
Liaise with business partners and the leaders of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Contract Management to set and monitor improvement programs for the suppliers in terms of quality, cost, and delivery.
Initiate the onboarding and integration of suppliers onto NYPA procurement technologies.
Prepare and communicate supplier performance metrics, evaluation criteria, and scorecard results.
Interface directly with the SRM leadership to create and perform supplier segmentation analysis.
Maintain Supplier master data management.

 
Category Management

Provide and review supplier capabilities with respect to expertise, industry, capacity, quality, operating model, financial stability, strategic positioning in the market, etc., to support category strategy development and sourcing.  Maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers to drive improvements in key business areas (cost, risk, delivery, quality, etc.) and support contract negotiation.

 
Contract Management

Ensure day to day operations and communications with the Contract Management Team on contracts compliance, monitoring adherence, and supplier performance. Compare contract terms and agreements against the supplier’s performance related variables and report/raise as necessary. Report on any discrepancies to the Supplier Relationship Manager and develop recommendations for resolution.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and a proficiency and literacy in desktop computing is required.
Understanding of procurement processes is required.
Motivated self-starter required.
Breadth and depth of knowledge of supply chain management concepts in procurement, receiving, supplier relationship management, and equipment management, and ability to demonstrate mastery in several of these areas.
Deep procurement experience with the proven ability to establish supplier relationship management capabilities to drive compliance and performance.
Breadth and depth of knowledge of social economics, accounting principles, the concept of total cost of ownership (TCO), cost management and process improvement, and ability to demonstrate mastery in several of these areas preferred/not required.
Familiarity with Ariba (or other electronic score carding system) Supplier Information and Performance Management system preferred/not required.
Strong knowledge of the Power Utility services and equipment categories and/or supply market preferred/not required.

Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Information Management, or similar.
Minimum 4 years of experience in a procurement organization, clearly exposed to and performing Strategic Sourcing and/or Supplier Relationship Management.
Minimum 2 years experience in the Utilities industry preferred.

Physical Requirements

Office location: White Plains, NY.
Travel requirements: <10%, may travel among sites from time to time, and potentially attend the more critical meetings that may take place at supplier locations.
