About Newmarket Capital
Newmarket Investment Management, LP (“Newmarket”) is a globally active institutional asset management firm based in Philadelphia, PA (www.newmarketcapital.com). Newmarket’s primary investment strategy involves taking exposure to specialized loan portfolios through risk-transfer structures alongside the world’s largest financial institutions. The strategy was launched in 2013 at Mariner Investment Group, where the founders of Newmarket raised and invested two funds which pioneered the focus on infrastructure and positive impact within the risk transfer market. In 2020, Newmarket was established and assumed the full management of the funds. Newmarket is focused on solutions, impact, and innovation. Many of the investments have been recognized in international press as first of their kind, particularly with respect to incorporating impact investment features. Among these are Room2Run transaction ($1 billion risk transfer) with the African Development Bank and the Jupiter transaction ($3.4 billion risk transfer) with Société Générale. Each of these investments created new capacity for social and/or environmentally positive lending. Additionally, the funds have taken over $5 billion of affordable housing, renewable energy, and healthcare assets. Newmarket is constantly seeking to develop and extend these themes, developing new opportunities in impact investment climate resiliency, affordable housing, development finance, and expanding credit to underserved communities, all within the US and globally.
