The non-profit Partnership for Food Safety Education seeks a remote intern for Summer 2021 with an interest in non-profit capacity-building and collaboration with the business sector.
We are specifically interested in working with a student seeking a Masters of Business
Administration or related business degree.
The Partnership is creator and steward of Fight BAC!®, a consumer education platform developed using scientifically based recommendations and resulting from an extensive consumer research process. More than 40 organizations comprise the Partnership, including leading corporations in food and technology. We are currently working on a food delivery project engaging companies in this vastly expanded market.
AREA : Planning
Your Contribution: Develop a business plan for the active engagement of food tech businesses in the non-profit Partnership for Food Safety Education. Participate in strategy discussions and planning with the organization’s Executive Director and Development Director.
AREA: Research and Writing
Your contribution: Write case statements and LinkedIn posts aimed at the food industry and food tech businesses making the case for financial investment in consumer food safety education and outreach. Compile and interpret research related to developments in food delivery and food retail.
AREA: Capacity Building
Your contribution: Strategize with PFSE senior staff on building capacity over the coming 3 years consistent with the organization’s core strategies:
1) To lead in developing and disseminating timely and effective messages on reducing risk of foodborne illness; 2) To activate influencers to deliver preventive health messages to US consumers; and 3) To secure the resources required to act effectively to achieve its strategic goals.
REQUIREMENTS Ideal applicants are current graduate students or recent graduates. Strong analytical and writing skills are a must, as is an interest in learning more about the non-profit sector. A MINIMUM TOTAL COMMITMENT OF 150 HOURS IS REQUIRED. A bi-weekly stipend of $500 is provided. The intern reports to the Executive Director.
