Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T) is seeking a
Materials, Processes, and Physics Engineer (Level 2)
to join our team in
El Segundo, California.
The candidate will advise on the scope of impact for initial containment; develop a failure investigation plan; execute the plan and adjust as new findings direct the investigation; and effectively communicate with the customer. Strong presentation skills are needed. The candidate will also verify the efficacy of corrective actions. Additionally, the candidate will perform analyses on the construction of electronic devices to assess their conformance to specification requirements and evaluate them for usage in spacecraft assemblies.
Candidate will work in the laboratory to conduct failure analysis of electronic parts to determine root cause and advise on corrective action to contain and resolve issues with electronic parts
Assists with development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
Performs routine tests and audits to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
Conducts routine analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes. Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions
Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
years of experience working in a laboratory environment
years of experience with electronics and/or electronic components
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, materials engineering or physics
Experience with destructive and non-destructive evaluation of components
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
