OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a sharp, detail-oriented intern to join its People Operations team within our Human Capital function. This position affords the opportunity to collaborate with a global team of human capital professionals to help you learn, grow, and gain a deeper understanding of what it’s like to work with us. WHAT YOU’LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
As an intern, you’ll provide human capital support for the employee life cycle. Responsibilities will include onboarding new hires, providing operational and technical support for human capital processes, and providing project-related assistance and support to the People Operations team. Throughout the summer, you’ll work closely with your manager, who will mentor you and support your professional development. You’ll also have regular opportunities to learn about us and our industry from internal and external experts, interact with employees from across the firm, and enjoy a wide variety of immersive social events.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• We’re interested in highly analytical, accomplished students who are approaching their final year of full-time study.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Successful candidates will exercise the utmost discretion while handling confidential information, excel at working both independently and as part of a team, demonstrate a client-focused approach, and thrive at managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience in or knowledge of human capital practices is beneficial, but we’ll also consider candidates from any field who have demonstrated the ability to learn quickly.
