MOFAD is seeking an individual to assist with fundraising and digital projects surrounding our next exhibition, African/American: Making the Nation’s Table. This will be the country’s first major exhibition recognizing how African Americans have laid the foundation for American food culture. It will celebrate the contributions of countless black chefs, farmers, and food and drink producers who have been written out of history — providing recognition that is long overdue.
This is a temporary (8-week) full-time unpaid internship from May 31, 2021 to August 6, 2021. Hours are 10:00AM EST to 6:00PM EST Monday through Friday, however these are negotiable based on time-zone. Time will be split 50-50 between the fundraising and curatorial departments. The position will be remote due to the current New York City COVID restrictions.
This intern will assist in the development department by:
Providing database and data entry support
Creating donor reports in Salesforce
Assisting with writing grant and foundation applications
Writing and scheduling donor direct-mail and email campaigns
Attending and contributing to regular meetings with the Development team
Performing other administrative and development tasks as assigned
This intern will assist with digital projects by:
Providing research support
Assisting with digital asset creation and maintenance
Liaising with scholars, chefs, business owners, and diverse industry experts
Attending and contributing to regular meetings with the Curatorial team
Performing other administrative and curatorial tasks as assigned
