Job Summary:

The ABC Affiliate Relations and Marketing segment of the Walt Disney Company is responsible for negotiating affiliation agreements with 200+ ABC affiliates TV stations around the country, maximizing the ABC Television Network’s distribution by selling-through key Network initiatives and communicating critical programming information. The Affiliate Relations team collaborates closely with a broad number of departments throughout the company, including ABC News, Entertainment, ESPN, Platform Distribution, Network Operations, Marketing/Promotion, and Consumer Insights, to name a few.

This internship will provide exposure to the business side of the ABC Television Network and the relationship we have with our affiliates. Candidates will work closely with the different teams within the Affiliate Relations department, including Station Relations, Operations, Business Planning and Marketing.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life…

This internship opportunity involves providing support to four key teams of the Affiliate Relations and Marketing department. Some projects include helping create fall launch sales/marketing initiatives, crafting Network communications and operational documentation, monitoring station activity, prepping new season programming materials, and tracking industry trends.

This internship will help provide a basic knowledge of the television landscape (including key programming areas of entertainment, news and sports) and the Network/Affiliate business model.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite

  • Passionate about media and television; understand the impact

  • Comprehend the intersection of media and technology and how it fits into the big picture

  • A consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in broadcast television and media distribution

  • Previous internship within a media/entertainment company

  • Proven leadership experience within student and/or professional organizations

  • Comfortable using Keynote

  • Experience communicating on Teams

Required Education

  • Currently enrolled or must have graduated within the past 18 months from an accredited college/university, earning a degree in Business, Media, TV/Film, Management, or related area of study

Additional Information:

  • At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 18 months OR currently participating in a Disney Professional Internship

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program, concurrent to this internship

  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization

Work Environment

  • This internship is a remote internship. The internship requires a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated work space.

  • The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2021 through August 2021

  • Candidate must be available to work full time hours for the duration of the internship
