Join FDA and serve on the frontlines protecting our nation’s public health safety within the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA). Within the Office of Human and Animal Foods Operations, the work assignments involve complex projects that are national/international in scope and the incumbent serves as a food expert. The position represents expertise for food areas and food safety issues to determine compliance with FDA laws and regulations.
- Serves as a produce program expert in consumer safety activities within a division, providing extensive advisory, liaison, and consultative services for produce safety programs to the regulated community.
- Plans, conducts, and directs highly technical, complex, and multi-faceted inspections and in-depth investigations related to the growing, harvesting, packing, and holding of fresh produce for human consumption.
- Develops and implements formal training programs for Agency personnel, industry, and State/Local/Tribal officials, and provides technical expertise to industry representatives in consumer safety activities.
- Prepares memoranda, briefings, and other background material concerning substantive issues, findings, conclusions, and proposed solutions to keep the Director and the appropriate staff involved at key decision points.
