Vivid Economics is a mission-driven, strategic economics consultancy that works with clients in both the public and private sectors to tackle some of the biggest sustainability issues facing our world today. Headquartered in London and with projects that spans the globe, we are renowned for ‘putting economics to good use’ to impact public policy and commercial decision-making. Our expertise and cutting-edge analytical tools are used across a wide variety of sectors, and we pride ourselves on the depth of our knowledge and the flexibility with which we approach change.
Vivid Economics’s Washington DC office was opened in 2020 to better serve and collaborate with our North American clients and partners. We are building out the office rapidly, and to help facilitate our growth we are looking to recruit Analysts and Economists with a deep passion for the work we do. We’ve built a dynamic environment and are looking for new team members able to take ownership of project work and support the growth of our US services and offerings – building on the expertise and support from existing UK and US team members.
Vivid Economics is committed to diversity and inclusion and welcomes all applicants regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
What would I do at Vivid?
As an Analyst or Economist at Vivid Economics, you will work on a mixture of quantitative analysis, including descriptive statistics, implementing models and econometrics, and qualitative research, including literature reviews, policy analysis and report writing.
As you gain experience you will rapidly become responsible for structuring problems, finding solutions and delivering content.
A ‘typical’ Vivid project lasts for around three to four months, with short projects lasting around a month, and longer ones up to a year. Some recent projects in the US include: Assessing the competitive impacts of carbon pricing in the State of Oregon; helping the City of Boston create a green bank; helping US companies and financials assess climate risks and impacts. In addition, our global team has worked on the short term impact assessments and rebound trajectory responses to COVID-19, and developing our Greenkeeper tool has been used to estimate the socioeconomic benefits of green spaces in low income neighborhoods.
Most successful applicants will have a Master’s degree and possess an impressive mix of academic achievement, economics and quantitative skills, and exhibit personal initiative. Generally, candidates with a Master’s or PhD, and some professional experience, will start at Economist level. Previous work experience, however, is not necessary. Vivid will challenge you to reach your full potential. You will quickly assume responsibility for your own project workstreams, and direct client contact is fostered and encouraged. Vivid will support you. You will receive close mentorship from a senior team member who will encourage and guide you to develop your career. Our consultants learn through both ‘on the job’ training, which is supported by colleagues, and regular feedback and review.
You will have majored in Economics, with a relevant Masters/PhD or previous work experience strongly preferred.

Candidates must have the rights to work in the USA and be based, or willing to relocate, to the greater Washington DC area.
