Do you love Yale? Are you excited by the prospect of traveling the world and meeting best-in-class investment managers, venture capitalists, and hedge funds managers? Are you intellectually curious, analytical, personable, and eager to work for a meaningful cause? If so, this is a position unlike any other in finance.
The Yale Investments Office (“YIO”) is widely regarded as one of the top institutional investors in the world, achieving market-leading returns over the past 30 years. Under the leadership of our late Chief Investment Officer David Swensen, the YIO pioneered the Yale Model, an investment framework now used by many leading institutional investors. Today, the Endowment invests in U.S. and foreign equities, hedge funds, leveraged buyouts, venture capital, real estate, and natural resources. Over the last 20 years, the Yale Endowment has contributed over $17 billion to the University’s operating budget, contributions that enable Yale to maintain its generous financial aid, extraordinary teaching, and state of the art research.
Investment Analysts work directly with senior staff, meet and interact with some of the world’s leading investment managers, and help identify Yale’s next investment opportunities. Analysts enjoy early responsibility and have a seat at the table from day one. Most Directors at the Yale Investments Office started off as Investment Analysts, rising through the organization’s ranks. In addition, past Analysts have gone on to work full-time with Yale’s hedge fund, venture capital, and foreign equity managers.
We are looking for Investment Analysts with excellent analytical abilities and writing skills as well as a sense of humor. All majors are encouraged to apply.
For your application, please include the following:
- Resume and Unofficial Transcript (Please upload your most recent unofficial academic transcript along with your resume as a single document using the “Resume/CV” field on the application).
- Cover Letter (Optional)
We encourage all potential candidates to do some background reading beforehand. Our 2020 Annual Report can answer many common questions applicants may have. We recommend starting with pages 3 and 5-7 as an introduction. The Investments Office website is another useful resource.
