Describe your project:
I worked within the Office of the Vice Provost for Research (VPR) with Angie Hofmann (Strategic Projects and Communications Advisor to Yale’s VPR) to develop a new, revamped Research at Yale website. My project focused specifically on developing a section that showcases a glimpse into the diverse research topics at Yale, aimed at an external lay audience.
What are the main skills that you acquired?
Through working on this project, skills that I learned or refined included science communication writing, integrating multiple sources of feedback, and effective design and presentation of information architecture. By being a part of VPR team meetings, I was able to gain insight into the vast and wide-ranging behind-the-scenes teamwork that goes into a breadth of university research administrative processes.
What were the biggest challenges and learning opportunities of the fellowship?
A challenge I faced was learning to effectively compromise and adjust content when feedback from various parties would be conflicting with one another.
