As a Gender Equity Research Fellow for the Women Faculty Forum, I synthesized biographical and research information from >300 women in science at Yale for presentation as an online exhibit in collaboration with university librarians. I also engaged in brainstorming strategies to tackle issues facing women faculty at Yale, including but not limited to tenure and promotions, retention, and access to childcare during COVID-19. I acquired skills in data management, communication, strategic advocacy and critical thinking. My biggest challenges were adjusting to a large team-based approach to advocacy work, and managing my time spent doing GPE fellowship activities alongside my dissertation research commitments. Overall, I had wonderful opportunities to engage with leaders across many departments and schools at the university, and I feel privileged to have worked alongside the brilliant WFF leadership team!
