What were the details of your internship and accomplishments?
I collaborated with another Academic Administration Fellow in humanities to update academic integrity training for incoming graduate students. We reached out to and met with the Graduate Writing Lab and Associate Dean. Based on their input and library resources, we created slides with more relevant content to inform students of available resources and disciplinary procedures.
I also collected resources from fellow institutions and alumni to help graduate students develop financial literacy.
What are the main skills that you acquired?
The experience familiarized me with campus resources. It also improved my collaboration and outreach ability, which are important transferable skills for my future career.
What were the biggest challenges and learning opportunities of the fellowship?
We tried to compile a list of professional development workshops for graduate students over the summer; after reaching out to many campus units, we were surprised that there are not many opportunities in the summer; we hope that there would be more summer professional development events for graduate students in the future.
