Disclosing Your Disability to an Employer

Students may be unsure as to whether they want to let an employer know about their disability. This is a very personal decision and if one decides to disclose, it can typically be at any time during the job search or hiring process. Below are some helpful articles which address this very question and provide students with the proper steps in deciding. All of these resources come from the Job Accommodation Network (JAN), a free service of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy. JAN has hundreds of pages of helpful advice based on one’s specific needs.

Keep in mind that students are encouraged to meet with an OCS Advisor to discuss your personal situation.
